How the Food Drive Works
Donor contributions allow the Foundation to purchase food locally based on availability and the needs of each community. Food packages typically include essential ingredients such as rice, beans, pasta, cooking oil, and sugar.
Local volunteers sort and package the groceries before each distribution. The Foundation also works with trusted community leaders to identify families in need and coordinate distributions in a safe, organized, and respectful manner.
Purchasing supplies locally supports area vendors while allowing the Foundation to respond more effectively to changing community needs.
Providing Support During Difficult Times
In addition to regular food distributions, the Foundation provides seasonal and emergency assistance to elderly residents, displaced families, and communities experiencing sudden hardship.
Each distribution is intended to do more than address an immediate need. By helping cover part of a household’s food expenses, the program can give families greater flexibility to manage other necessities, including housing, education, transportation, and medical care.

Since launching its community outreach efforts in 2020, the 44.5 Foundation’s Food Drive Program has organized more than 60 distributions and supported over 100 families.
Each number represents a household that received essential food, encouragement, and a reminder that people in their community care.
This impact is made possible by donors, volunteers, community partners, and local leaders who continue to support the Foundation’s work.
